Switch EV is a Technology Strategy Board project that will see 44 electric vehicles on trial across the North East region from September 2010.
Switch EV will have several different makes and models of passenger cars as well as a minibus included in the trial, all powered by electricity.
The vehicles will be leased to organisations, local authorities, car clubs and individuals across the North East region.
