Recharging Infrastructure

Pod Point
There are several ways to recharge your electric car - at home, at work or at a public charging point.

For Switch EV trial candidates, we may be able to provide and install a Pod Point for safe charging at home. This would be provided, free of charge, through the Plugged in Places scheme, for the duration of the trial.

Organisations across the region are also being encouraged to install charging facilities at their place of work. Working with the Charge Your Car team, Switch EV trial candidates can benefit from the provision and installation of a charging point free of charge at a work location.

The number of public recharging places is increasing rapidly, with 200 already in place across the North East, and another 100 ready to be installed. These include sites with free charging and free parking in city centers, as well as "quick" chargers in key locations, which can recharge electric cars to 80% of their capacity in just 30 minutes.

All of the recharging locations can be found on the Charge Your Car website, as well as information on how to access the charging points.
