Switch EV is a North East regional project, with project partners from within the area. All of the vehicles will be on the roads within the North East, with an initial focus on Newcastle and Gateshead, to take advantage of the work the local authorities have already completed on recharging infrastructure provision.

• 44 vehicles will be included in the Switch EV project
• The project will span 3 years
• At least 145 trial organisations will drive the vehicles, for up to a year each
• Vehicles will be utilised as pool cars and car club vehicles, so many more people will have the opportunity to drive
• The number of miles driven is expected to reach 540000 
• The projected value of the project is £10.8m

Trial organisations have been selected from across the region.
Recharging infrastructure is developing across the North East, updating as new technology becomes available.

Organisations are benefiting from the associated supply chain requirements, and are contributing to the project, including electric vehicle dealerships, education courses for technicians, specialist insurance providers and dedicated breakdown service providers.
